THEY'RE ON THE ISLAND!
2월 7일 1830 UTC의 첫 헬리콥터 비행을 시작으로 2월 8일 0230 UTC까지, 팀원 중 3명을 제외한 모든 OP들과 80% 정도의 장비들이 섬으로 운반이 되었다고 합니다.
OP-거주지 A를 제외한 모든 거주지가 설치되었고, 2개의 SteppIR 안테나와 40 m용 Vertical 안테나를 설치하여 2월 8일 0400 UTC부터 2개의 station에서 운용이 된다고 합니다.
캠프는 1994년 원정팀이 설치 했던 곳 보다 약간 더 북쪽의 해안가에 위치해 있으며, 눈이 질퍽거리는 상태이고 걸을 때마다 발이 눈속으로 6인치 (15 cm) 가량 빠지는 상태라고 합니다. 기온은 30’F ( - 1‘C), 바람은 30 노트.
향후 24시간내에 8 ~ 9 station을 셑업하여 본격적인 교신에 나선답니다.
0245UTC: "The Eagle Has Landed"! The first helicopter load landed on Peter I Island at 1830UTC 7 Feb. All but three members of the Team are ashore; the last helicopter trip for the day was at 0230UTC. 80% of the gear has been transferred; the rest (and the remaining three Team members) will be flown ashore in the morning (local). All the shelters are up except OP Shelter A.
Two SteppIR antennas are up along with a 40M vertical. This is a beautiful place but visibility is presently poor. We've seen the tops of volcanoes but only for a brief period. The camp is located a bit north of the 1994 location, closer to the sea. Snow is slushy and you sink in about 6" with every step; makes moving around tiring. Temp is 30°, wind 30 knots and visibility is low. We expect to have 8-9 stations on the air in the next 24 hours.
We plan to be on the air with two stations at around 0400UTC 8 Feb.
