YX0A, Aves Island DXpedition 팀 원 중의 한사람인 호세 (José Manuel Valdés Rodriguez, YV5LIX)가 원정 현장인 카리브해의 조그만 섬 Aves Island에서 지난 4월 21일 심장마비로 사망했다고 전해지고 있다.
원래 이팀은 'YX0A'라는 호출부호를 쓰기로 되어있었으나 사망한 OP를 기리기 위해 그의 호출부호 suffix를 따 ‘YX0LIX'로 나오고 있다. 호세는 향년 57세이며, 1987년부터 아마추어무선을 시작했고 세계적으로 유명한 DXer이자 contester이기도 하다.
호세의 사망시간은 0400 UTC 경이었는데, YX0A DXpedition 운용이 막 시작 될 무렵이었다고 한다. 소식을 접한 전세계의 HAM들은 DX Summit 게시판 등에 애도의 글을 올리고 있다.

원정팀의 웹페이지 (www.yv0.info)에 가보면 매우 아이러니하게도 Operator를 소개하는 곳에 이런 글귀가 써져있다. “.... With 2 MDs in our expedition crew, we are well protected...” (우리 원정 팀에는 2명의 의사가 참여하고 있어서 충분히 안전하다..) 여기서 말하는 2명의 의사는, 팀리더인 YV5EED Ramon과 YV5IVB Pablo라는데 이들도 손을 쓸수가 없었던 모양이다.
지난 2월의 '3Y0X' 원정팀의 장비 목록 중에 있었던 ‘Defibrillator’ (심폐소생술에 쓰는 불규칙 심장 박동 제거기)가 괜한 장비가 아니었음이 증명이 된 셈이다.
